Maybe you’ve been playing disc golf for a long time and have mastered each throwing style. But have you ever wondered how these flying discs are made?

If you’re curious about how we make Tornado Throw discs, keep reading to find out…

    How we make our discs?

We use injection molding in making our discs. Injection molding is a manufacturing process for producing parts by injecting molten material into a mold. It uses a special-purpose machine that has three parts: the injection unit, the mold, and the clamp.

    Here’s the step-by-step process:

Step 1: The Compounding Phase This is where each type of raw material is prepared. This process converts the raw materials into the shape of pellets or granules.

Step 2: The Feeding Phase In this phase, the pre-dried granular plastic is fed by a forced ram from a hopper into a heated barrel.

Step 3: The Transporting and Melting Phase As the granules are slowly moved forward by a screw-type plunger, the plastic is forced into a heated chamber, where it is melted.

Step 4: The Injection Phase The liquified material is forced through a nozzle that rests against the mold, allowing it to enter the mold cavity through a gate and runner system.

Step 5: The Cooling and Removal Phase The mold remains cold so the plastic solidifies almost as soon as the mold is filled. After the plastic cooled off, it is removed from the machine.

Step 6: The Quality Inspection Phase Each disc is carefully inspected to make sure that they pass the quality standard set by our company.

Step 7: The Decoration Phase This phase involves printing the designs, logo, flight ratings, and other information on the discs.

Step 8: Packaging Phase For the final step, each disc is placed in a box ready for dispatch.
